Variable Data Design Tips
- We highly recommend that you use a "layout" application to prepare your final artwork, such as QuarkXpress or Adobe InDesign.
- Do not export final press-ready PDFs when creating artwork for VDP.
- Our pre-press department needs to have the native files in order to integrate the variable aspects into your design.
Please do not hesitate to give us a call with any questions
especially during the design stage. Our designers will be happy to walk
you through the finer points of VDP design.
When it comes time to submit your files please use the asset collection utilities that are built into InDesign and QuarkXpress.
The collection utilities allow you to gather the files with all fonts and images used in your layout(s).
- InDesign: Under the File Menu, click on "Package..."
- QuarkXPress: Under the File Menu, click on "Collect for Output..."
Once the files have been collected it is always best to use a file compression utility.
A file compression utility (e.g. Winzip or Stuffit) protects your graphics before transmitting them across the internet.
Multi-channel Marketing Campaign Design Tips
When preparing for a multi-channel marketing campaign it is best to
start globally and then work down to each individual element. Our
project managers can work with you to pinpoint the goals of your
campaign, the overall look and feel, and the best order in which to
move the prospect through your channels.
If you would like to design the campaign yourself, we have prepared
a design manual to help. This manual outlines the design process from
variable print pieces, to personalized web pages, to the personalized
email follow-up. Following the design manual allows you to produce
pieces that take full advantage of our powerful multi-channel marketing
program.
